Obama from the Inside ... and the Outside

In this short diary I quote Obama on two key questions and I point you to a piece about him on a conservative web site.   His own words are on the Latino vote and how tough he'll be in the general election.   The conservative article is rather fair and balanced, all things considered.    Happy reading!

Barack's own words  ("Nightly News," NBC, 2/4):

On the Latino vote:   When asked if he didn't take Latino vote seriously enough: "You're getting too many memos from the Clinton campaign  [snip]  I think this myth that Latinos ... won't vote for an African American ... is the kind of old race-based politics that our campaign has rejected and that the American people are rejecting."

I wonder how many times a day Obama utters the word "race"?   Which is no doubt small compared to the number of times a day he implies it, suggests it, and innuendos it.

On Electability:  Asked about the argument that if he gets the nod he won't be able to go up against the GOP's well-oiled machine: "Isn't that the argument that was made against me going up against the Clinton's well-oiled machine? ... If we get through this nomination we certainly will be battle tested because I don't think my opponent in the Democratic primary has been going out of their way to take it easy on me"

Not clear Obama has ever run against someone who doesn't crumple under the charge of "race baiting".   I find myself almost hoping we get a chance to see it in November.   But not enough to actually vote for that man.

Here's the conservative article on him.  Compared to how I would characterize Obama, this article strikes me as rather kind:
